Fantastic set of images Nigel, all evidence of a creative years work.
This collection of images should serve as an incentive for anyone considering using your services, either as a model looking to enhance their Portfolio, or a photographer looking to enhance their knowledge and skills.
For any photographer contemplating attending one of Nigel’s workshops, I can honestly say you will not be disappointed. I would describe myself as a keen amateur who has previously gone down the route of trying to get all the “right gear”. I soon realised that this could be an expensive route to take and decided that it would be better to try and improve my skills using the equipment I had available. I have long admired the work of photographers likes Joe McNally, Neil Van Niekerk and Zac Arias who use off camera flash in a creative way. I was keen to learn more about flash and searched the internet for someone on this side of the pond who used flash with the same level of creativity.
I contacted Nigel after coming across his website and arranged a 1:1 session. The 1:1 suited my needs best as I wanted more time to develop my knowledge and skills.
The day started with a short session on the theory behind using flash. I Everything was explained in easy to understand terms with no techno babble. The teaching was centred around what I wanted to know. After a quick break for refreshments we headed out to a Manor house location where the theory was put into practice. On location we had a model who was very patient and a MUA (Nigel’s wife Catherine). The combination of all these elements helped foster an atmosphere of learning. I had the choice of using both my flash equipment and Nigel’s own Atom Flash system.
Nothing was too much trouble and there was no pressure. Like I said at the start, this was a day well spent. Thanks Nigel and Catherine for the hospitality and training.
Tom, that’s very kind words indeed, and all I can modestly say is thank you very much. It was a pleasure having you and we enjoyed your company on the day. I hope you found it all useful to relate back to your own photography, and I know we’ll meet up again soon.
