I was determind to get to the beach with my camera before the summer was gone, and while it was planned for just a group of friends to go, it proved a lot more difficult than I thought to get organised! With the weather having the final say, we took our chances and headed over to the beach yesterday evening. It was around 8.30pm when I was taking my first shots to establish the level of available light, and we somehow seemed to hit the ‘sweet spot’ of the evening light for around 40 minutes. With a little playing around with various camera controls, what was a very ordinary broken greyish sky became interesting, dramatic and quite blue. All I needed to do was add Charlene, Eimear and Louise who came along as models, and varying degrees of off camera flash to do the job.
All too soon though the light was fading, and for anyone who knows camera settings, when I was hand holding and down to a 60th at 2.8, iso2000 it was time to call it a night!
Here are some of the results. I have experimented in the application of a few different styles in post production of these images.
More to follow soon….
